What is Waste Water?

This is any water that has been contaminated by human use. It could come from toilet flushing,bathing, washing e.t.c.

Brace yourself for some Yuck! Moment, but it is still clean and safe. 

Water

Many research papers and articles have been written on how waste water can be recycled into water. Some countries have also adopted recycling waste water in fresh clean water. One of such countries is Singapore. Singapore lacks a reliable water supply and it has to import water via pipeline from Malaysia, a neighboring country.

By recycling waste water it also creates more water for the population, an article by the Aarhus University stated that by 2040 there won’t be enough water in the world. Singapore has effectively turned waste water into NEWater, which supplies one-third of the country’s water demand.

Orange County Water and Sanitation districts recycle waste water to clean water, its bottled water reads “Tastes like water because it is water.”  A slightly more blunt message reads “Get over it.”  

So the next time you take our bottled water and wonder if it is water recycled from waste water, “Get Over It” and Drink it.

Beer

Yes! Beer, and this has been on for a while. Popular brand Budweiser’s CEO- August Busch III   says “Using wastewater to brew beer isn’t a fad,” and  “It’s been our key ingredient in Bud Light for 25 years!”.

Also in Berlin, another beer made from recycled waste water is Reuse Brew which is  part of a special project to raise public awareness and public interest in recycled water.

Another brand is PU:REST, this was done in partnership with Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Carlsberg and New Carnegie Brewery which was to create awareness about the value of safe and clean water plus demonstrate that wastewater can be made drinkable.
